Tuva S
Sweden; learning Korean
“I have never been more excited to learn than I am now. It helped me open my eyes to so many things.”
Before the Method
Tuva is a student from Sweden who was clearly passionate about learning Korean, but felt so overwhelmed by how unattainable it felt. After learning English at school with a clearly defined structure, she was struggling with creating that structure for herself.
Watch the video below to learn more about where Tuva was before my coaching, and what she was desperate to accomplish.
“Language learning…is almost like a task…that I have no interest in doing.”
Phase 1
Since Tuva was feeling so overwhelmed by how big of a goal she had for her Korean, working through Phase 1 changed the very core of how she felt about her language learning. All of a sudden she felt calm and confident because she could picture her journey.
Watch the video below to see how surprised she felt about her transformation, less than halfway through the course!
“I feel really calm about the entire process of learning something and I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way before.”
Phase 2
Tuva learned so much about the different options available to her that she was so excited to try them all! But this wasn’t because someone recommended them to her – it was because there were so many possibilities for her preferred path to learning a language.
Watch the video below to see Tuva’s take on this new approach to finding different language learning resources.
“I know which apps I should use for the purpose that I want to use them.”
Phase 3
By the time Linka got to Phase 3, she had already learned so much more about herself than she had expected to…and she still had 4 weeks left! Those last lessons were the bullet in the coffin of her tossing out her self-sabotaging habits in favor of something a little more reasonable that she could expect to sustain long-term.

“I feel way more confident in my routine now than I did.”
After The Method
3 months later, Tuva’s approach to learning a language was flipped on its head. Her only concern was that she still had a small concern that she wouldn’t be able to stick to her language learning long term; talking it out, she realized she’s so used to “quitting” that she doesn’t know how else to feel.
Check out Tuva’s official testimonial below!
How did you feel about language learning before this course?
Before taking this course, I loved language learning but I thought it was more complicated than it should be. I felt lost and I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. It made me feel sad and I thought that the school method was the only way I would be able to learn a new language. I felt like everything was blurry and out of focus.
What was your language learning like before The Method?
My language learning before taking this course wasn’t enjoyable. I knew what I wanted but I didn’t like the way I was trying to get there. I took months of breaks and no studying. I didn’t know what to do and it felt like I was doing something wrong. Whenever I tried to get back into it, I got stuck at the same place again and the evil circle began all over again.
As my main resources I used the How to Study Korean website and the Talk to me in Korean textbooks. And as I got stuck at the same place every time I started again, I don’t think those resources were the right fit for me. But I kept going back to them every time I started over again, because I felt like they should work, but I still got disappointed every time.
Why did you choose your target language?
I decided to start studying Korean when I fell in love with the culture. I watched a lot of Korean dramas and I got a feel for the language and the culture and something about it made me want to learn more. So I started to listen to music and watched even more television and started to connect with other people who loved the language. I have not been able to let it go ever since.
What specifically were you struggling with?
In my language learning before, I struggled the most with keeping a routine and knowing what to do during my study sessions. I felt lost, as this was the first time I studied a language on my own. I always knew what I wanted but not how to get there.
What is your language learning like now?
So far I have been working on setting a routine. I have just gotten into it and just sticking to that feels like a huge accomplishment. I am taking things really slow, and I am way more comfortable in that than I thought I would be.
What tangible differences have you experienced?
Ever since I started this course I have been a lot more motivated to study. I am seeing how my reading is getting better and that I understand more of what I am reading. Last night, I finished a chapter of a Webtoon and I understood most of it without any translations. That was a part of my short term goals, so I can see myself getting closer to my smart goals.
What did you like most about The Method?
What I liked most about this course is that I now feel like I am back on track. This course showed me how I could make my own path and still get to achieve what I want. I have such a clear path on how to get where I want and it totally feels doable and not overwhelming. And because of that, I feel more confident in the fact that I might actually get to the point I want in my language learning and that feels amazing.
I also like the fact that I under the course figured out what wasn’t working for me. In the beginning I couldn’t put a finger on what wasn’t working for me, but after this course it was so much clearer and I got answers to questions I didn’t even know I had.
What would you tell someone interested in The Method?
This course is 100% worth it. I have never been more excited to learn than I am now. It helped me open my eyes to so many things. I think other people might need this eye opener too. It will give you so many tools to try and enjoy and it will make everything so much more fun.
